YOU ARE NOT ALONE, I SHALL SEND YOU POWER

Song:

My God is a miracle God (2x)

He has never fail

He will never fail

He will do what he says he will do

He will do what he promised to do

“I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high." (Luke 24:49).

Christianity is a religion of power. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20

“For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.” 1 Corinthians 1:17

“My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.” 1 Corinthians 2:4-5.

A true believer stands in opposition to those who deny the power of the Christian faith. “Having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.” 2 Timothy 3:5

The power of faith

Church-goers really miss the opportunity of experiencing the might healing power of Christian faith. They do not know or have the power of godliness because they attend Church as a mere routine. "If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. (John 14:15-17

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2).

“so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.” (1 Corinthians 2:5).

The power to evangelise the world

“and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20).

The power of approval. Conviction that you are God’s child.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:16-17).

“Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. (Romans 8:14-16).

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12)

Power over demonic influences

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. (Mark 16:17-20).

Christianity without the manifestation of God’s power is not Christianity: “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,” (Philippians 3:10).

A true Christian do not miracles to believe but should expect miracles where the word of God is proclaimed: “I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.” (Romans 15:18-19)

Unfortunately to do, many Christians are powerless. They have no conviction of whom they serve. They have allowed negative influences and all the happenings in our contemporary world to rob them of the power of Christianity. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8).

Worst still they have been deceived to accepting that the devil does not exist and of course the devil would not want you to believe in his existence because he operates in subtlety. He is very crafty and would gradually want to ruin your life and destiny.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12).

To receive this power you need to be open the Holy Spirit. It is He alone that can give you the power of holiness, godliness, faith, approval and the ability to preach the word of God to all.

The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost

1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. (Acts 2:1-4).

Are you still getting drunk with alcohol? Are you getting your minds polluted by all sorts of filthy things in this world? Are you still engrossed in the things of the earth? “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:18-20).

This power was handed to you on the day you accepted the Lord as your personal Lord and Saviour. You had this power when you got born again. Oh yes, you received this power when you were baptised in the Church. But for some reason you have lost this power. The good news is that you can reactive this power if so desire. “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:6-7).

You will begin to be fruitful in the vineyard of the Lord the moment you realised that this power is in you. You will exercise and use your gift to serve the Lord and his people. “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.” (Romans 12:6-8).

This power will give you victory over the works of the flesh: “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:18-21).

With this power in you, you will start living according to the fruit of the Spirit: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23).
