Waiting for Blessings

Song:

 1. Do something new in my life (2x)

Something marvellous in my life, oh Lord

Do something new in my life (2x)

Something marvellous in my life, oh Lord

 2. It shall be permanent (2x)

What the Lord has done for me

It shall be permanent

 3. It’s me (2x) oh Lord standing in the need of you

It’s me (2x) oh Lord standing in the need of you

It’s not my brother but me oh Lord, standing in the need of you

It’s not my sister but me oh Lord, standing in the need of you

As men and women, we spend most of our lives waiting. We wait in filling stations, shopping malls, doctor offices, etc. It seems that almost everything that we do requires us to wait. Often times, even God requires us to wait on Him. We wait for His promises to come to pass. We even wait for His timing on those promises to come. It seems that waiting is just a natural part of our lives.

Psalm 27:14 states, "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord." God promises us that if we will wait and do nothing and have courage that He will strengthen our hearts. If we wait when God asks us to wait and we wait faithfully, then how strong would our hearts be.

There are times that we as men and women feel like we are waiting and waiting and waiting and nothing is happening. But faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). So, just because you do not see anything happening, does not mean that the Lord God is not working on your behalf.

Psalm 37:7 says something that really means a lot to me. The Scripture reads, "Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass." It is an awesome promise. Sometimes when we wait, we begin to feel we have been forgotten. We see others being blessed and wonder why. We ask ourselves: Is that person better than me? Am I doing something wrong? Why does it look like I will never see what I am waiting for? Where is my blessing?

God’s Word however promises us that if we will rest in him and wait patiently for him, then He will do the rest. He will be able to do something awesome for us. But we must remember to keep our fingers off of our promises, so that they will work out for our own good. All we have to do is sit back and relax. We should never compare ourselves to other people and to the blessings that they receive. There is no way of knowing how long the other person had to wait for their blessings to come into place. We should be thankful that God makes us wait for some of our blessings. I think that the longer we have to wait for something the more we appreciate it and are thankful for it.

Does the answer seem to linger
To your earnest prayer?
Turn your praying into praise, and
Get somewhere.
You will never know His fullness
Till you boldly dare
To commit your all to Him and
Get somewhere.

God Bless You
