Song:
Forever O Lord Your Word Is Settled In Heaven
It is settle, forever
Introduction
“For ever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven.” (Psalm 119:89). Thy purposes are all settled above, and they shall all be fulfilled below.
The word of God can be trusted at times because we server a God that cannot lie (Titus 1:2). It is God’s nature always to speak the truth; and no circumstances can ever occur in which He will depart from it, and this is the foundation of all our hopes of salvation. So the scripture is absolute!
18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:18).
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Matthew 24:35).
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. ( John 14:16-17).
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. ( John 16:12-13).
Inspiration of the scripture
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (2 Timothy 3:16).
21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21).
Importance of the Scripture
29 “Is not my word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces? (Jeremiah 23:29).
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12).
Imperishablility of the Scripture
25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
26 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
Like clothing you will change them
and they will be discarded.
27 But you remain the same,
and your years will never end. (Psalm 102:25-27).
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
look at the earth beneath;
the heavens will vanish like smoke,
the earth will wear out like a garment
and its inhabitants die like flies.
But my salvation will last forever,
my righteousness will never fail. (Isaiah 51:6).
7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of the ungodly. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. (2 Peter 3:7,10).
5 A woman must not wear men’s clothing, nor a man wear women’s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. (Deuteronomy 22:5).
9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, (1 Timothy 2:9).
8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” (Isaiah 40:8).
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached to you. (1 Peter 1:25).
Inherency/infallibility of the Scripture
7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the LORD are firm,
and all of them are righteous. (Psalm 19:7, 9).
6 And the words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times. ( Psalm 12:6).
89 Your word, LORD, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens.
140 Your promises have been thoroughly tested,
and your servant loves them. ( Psalm 119:89, 140 ).
