BY SIGHT OR BY FAITH?
Song:
Because he lives, I can face tomorrow
Because Christ lives, all fear is gone
Because I know, he holds my future
My life is worth a living just
Because he lives
“We live not by sight but by faith.” (2Corinthians 5:7), but faith without work is dead, (James 2:20). The scripture says: “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.” (Ecclesiastes 11:4).
There seem to be no encouraging news or words from almost all aspects of our society. What we hear, read and see daily are negative, discouraging and discomforting reports of wars, riot, death, hunger, poverty, joblessness, disease, barrenness and all sought of evils you can imagine.
Tell me, whose report will you believe: God’s or devil’s? Thus says the Lord: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.” (Isaiah 48:17).
Why are you despairing? Why have you allow yourself to become confused and frustrated? You have lost concentration in almost everything you do. You can no longer tarry in prayer and hard work.
You no longer have a vision. And where there is no vision, opportunity is either lost or misuse. Think about it: if you do not have a vision of acquiring properties (house, land …) when you have money, you will end up squandering your money on riotous living if money comes your way.
If you do not have a vision of becoming a good house wife, you will end up divorced if you eventually get married. If you do not have a vision (desire) of becoming the best in your school\career\department, you may eventually waste your life in school if you secure admission.
What have you made up your mind to be in life? Are you prepared to conscientiously work towards it? Are you wiling to pay the price? Turn your ears away from discouraging voices and focus your attention unto God who will guide you to your desired goals.
“To man belongs the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue, commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:1, 3.
God Bless You
