Standing on the Promises of God

Song:

God is not man; his word will surely come to pass
He is not a man; He will never never fail.

God has created us in this world for a purpose, so our prayer should always be that He reveals that purpose to us. We should be careful not to run ahead of God; we need His guidance everyday.

‘Know that the LORD is God.  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.’ (Psalm 100:3).

As the shepherd owns the flock, so God is our owner; as the shepherd guards his flock and provides for it, so God guards us and provides for us.

23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.

24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ (Acts 17:23-24, 28).

By His originally forming us, and continually sustains us. No words can better express our constant dependence on God. He is the original fountain of life, and he upholds us each moment.

God’s promise for sinners is forgiveness only if the sinner would repent. He delights in seeing unbelievers converted because he’s got excellent promises for them too.

18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. (Isaiah 1:18).

“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:22).

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30).

“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” (John 6:37). [Proverbs 18:10, Matthew 7:7, Isaiah 55:1-9].

God had a promise for every challenge, temptation, conflict or battle, demonic affliction, or suffering that come your way. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39).

At every stage of our lives, God has a promise for us: childhood, single, student, married or old.

There are promises both for this present life and the life to come:

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” (1 Timothy 4:8).

If both Abraham and Moses were to come and give us testimonies of their lives; the conclusion certainly would be; ‘brethren, stand on the promises of God.’

God’s word is yes and amen. 20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 1:20).

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil?” (Numbers 23:19).

56 “Praise be to the LORD, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses. (1 Kings 8:56).

Start now to search and look upon the promises of God; don’t focus on the mountain but find a promise that matches the mountain. The reason why we fail is because we do not find the promises of God to match all kinds of trials we’re passing through.

Focusing on your mountain will bring you more sorrows. So start to focus on the promises of God.

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Matthew 11:22-24).

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11).

In His Vineyard,
