Reversing Negative Prophecy
Song:
You are the pillar that holds my life (x2)
Master Jesus you’re the pillar that holds my life (x2)
A prophecy is a prediction or fore-telling, and it could be either negative or positive. You must not overlook negative prophecy. Never treat negative dream with contempt no matter how spiritual you think you are; you must pray about it. Pray earnestly also about messages you receive from brethren (or people in general) concerning you in their dreams. Be careful not to dismiss it with a wave of hand. Do not say they dreamt because of too much play in the day or worst still, they are not born again hence their dreams are of no use. Remember Pharaoh dreamt and it came to pass. In fact both Nebuchadnezzar and Pilate's wife dreamt. Sadly, Nebuchadnezzar chose to rather depend upon his riches and power instead of Daniel’s counsel. He faced the consequences!
15 Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! The LORD has not sent you, yet you have persuaded this nation to trust in lies. 16 Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. This very year you are going to die, because you have preached rebellion against the LORD.’”
17 In the seventh month of that same year, Hananiah the prophet died. (Jeremiah 28:15-17).
Hananiah was sentenced to die, and Jeremiah, when he has received direction from God, boldly tells him so; but not before he received that commission. I sensed in my spirit that Hananiah may have treated this message with contempt; he did not repent and ask for forgiveness.
But contrariwise, the people of Nineveh upon hearing the message of Jonah ( Jonah 3:1-10) believed God - They had no doubt that the threatening would be fulfilled, unless their speedy conversion prevented it; but, though not expressed, they knew that the threatening was conditional. The people followed the example of the king. It became a national act, and it was necessary it should be so, when it was to prevent a national ruin.
God counselled:
7 If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, 8 and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. (Jeremiah 18:7-8).
