Restoration
Song:
The blood of Jesus set me free from sin and sorrow
The blood of Jesus set me free
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion,
declare a holy fast,
call a sacred assembly.
16 Gather the people,
consecrate the assembly;
bring together the elders,
gather the children,
those nursing at the breast.
Let the bridegroom leave his room
and the bride her chamber.
17 Let the priests, who minister before the LORD,
weep between the temple porch and the altar.
Let them say, "Spare your people, O LORD.
Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn,
a byword among the nations.
Why should they say among the peoples,
'Where is their God?' " (Joel 2:15-17).
Have you lost your first love? Have you lost your zeal and passion for things of the kingdom? Have you lost your joy of salvation? In what ways have you soiled your hands? The Lord is calling you now so that you can be restored! You can’t afford to carry on living like this. And it is also immaterial if you’re a church minister or not, you must be honest with your present state of affairs.
If you study the book of Deuteronomy chapter 28, you’ll see a warning to the Israelites.
But in the passage above, Joel brought a message of restoration to the nation of Israel because you’ll see how utterly destroyed they were in Joel chapter 1, untold calamities befell them.
3 Do not crave his delicacies,
for that food is deceptive. (Proverbs 23:3).
12 "This is what the LORD says:
" 'Your wound is incurable,
your injury beyond healing.
13 There is no one to plead your cause,
no remedy for your sore,
no healing for you.
14 All your allies have forgotten you;
they care nothing for you.
I have struck you as an enemy would
and punished you as would the cruel,
because your guilt is so great
and your sins so many.
15 Why do you cry out over your wound,
your pain that has no cure?
Because of your great guilt and many sins
I have done these things to you.
17 But I will restore you to health
and heal your wounds,'
declares the LORD,
'because you are called an outcast,
Zion for whom no one cares.' (Jeremiah 30:12-15, 17).
We can see a message of restoration in Jeremiah 30:17, so there is hope for you today. Are you suffering from sickness and living in poverty as result of your sinful consequences? There is restoration for you today.
Have you sold yourself into the hands of strange women? Or even evil men in exchange for useless pleasures (in the likes of Ahab and Jezebel, Samson and Delilah, David and Beersheba)? There is a way out for you today.
Here is the condition then for restoration:
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Here is the result:
25 "I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—
the great locust and the young locust,
the other locusts and the locust swarm—
my great army that I sent among you. (Joel 2:25).
God bless you
