THE TWO GREAT SECRETS FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM (1) SECRET OF HAPPINESS CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION WHAT IS HAPPINESS? Happiness is one thing that people everywhere and every time earnestly desire to have in life. The saint wants to be happy and the sinner wants to be happy. The herbalist, ungodly, cult members and indeed everybody wants to be happy. And this they have sought in many ways and still seeking in various ways usually ungodly. A good number of people think that they would be happy by living a life of debauchery (immorality), but it has been proved time without number that they are absolutely wrong, it is tantamount to throwing a cube of sugar into an ocean in order to make it sweet. Little wonder then that there is a clarion call from different ungodly people in the society beckoning these desperate happiness seekers to come over to them and be happy forever. But they are mere deceivers and the scripture says, “They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.” (2 Peter 2:19) And in all cases all those lured by these people become most unhappy and frustrated than they were before, “The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips.” (Psalm 16:4). "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.” (Jonah 2:8). The quest for happiness has driven many to the point and level that it seems that there is no longer any way out. I want to assure you that there is a sure a way out of whatever depth or height you have reached, all you need is to be completely opened to the Lord and he will set you free and get you out of the state of dilemma. Happiness is a feeling or expression of pleasure, contentment and satisfaction. So it is appropriate to say that a happy person is a peaceful person since happiness brings peace. But daily we see in others and in ourselves loneliness, depression, anxiety, boredom, suspicion, mistrust, quarrelling and hatred. Yet God did not create us this way. Do you know that your heart is greater than any created thing and only God its creator can satisfy your heart’s desires? Then why are you wasting your time, energy and money seeking happiness through lust (immorality), liquor (alcohol), learning (education), and luxury (wealth)? You cannot be truly happy in this world without God. I believe that when God created us, He took a little piece of our heart and kept it. That is why there is a deep longing inside of each of us. We may however try to satisfy the longing with material things and exciting experiences, but they never quite satisfy us. The sooner we learn that our heart’s desire can only be satisfied by God the quicker we will detach ourselves from all the things that distract us. And what are these things? Evang. Those who have found these hidden treasures have usually sold everything they own to buy the treasures. To be happy is the desire of every soul. Yet, the secrets of happiness are like the mysteries of the kingdom of Heaven, that the Lord of heaven and earth has hidden from the proud, over-ambitious and godless, to reveal them only to the gentle, humble and godly – mere children.
